It often happens that a when a player is charged and proven guilty of using illegal or banned steroids, he is normally banned or few years or for rest of his life. Players who got banned for few years , once that banned period is over, it is very difficult for them to come back and make a mark once again. But this is not the case with Jordan Matechuk. He is one of those lucky people who are able to get a second chance in his career after he was once charged with possession of illegal steroids. Because after you are proven guilty of something it is very difficult to do that work again and keep all the people satisfied as they can raise questions about your presence with them.
Jordan Matechuk, aged 27, is a professional foot ball player playing in foot ball league of Canada. He used to play football at junior level from different sides. After that he played with different clubs in the league like Blue Bombers and Hamilton Tiger Cats. But in May, 2011 he was arrested by US custom officials at the border crossing of Sault Saint Marie. According to US Custom officials there were lot of illegal steroids in possession of Matechuk when he was arrested. Those included 543 pills of steroids (anabolic), 262 ml of injectable anabolic steroids, 1.25 gm marijuana, 19 Syringes and 51 extra needles. He was charged for two offences. One charge was for carrying Marijuana and second was for carrying the steroids. On these charges he was jailed for 90 days in September 2011.
After seven months of this incident he has been recently signed by Winnipeg Blue Bombers in February. According to the Joe Mack, General Manager of Winnipeg Blue Bombers, they are signing Matechuk due to the talent which he possesses and with his experience our side can get great benefits out of his great foot ball skills. He further added that if he had something in past then it is gone now and it was his personal matter and it had nothing to do with us signing him for now. He said that they also feel that everyone should be given another chance and during our deal with him, he has shown great professionalism during this whole process of negotiations with him and it is very exciting for us that he has joined us and now let us see what he can deliver for the team in future.
Originally Matechuk joined Ticats but when the administration of Ticats came to know about his arrest they immediately let him free. After him comingback from jail it is first contract he has signed.
