Wayne police in steroid possession

A juvenile in Wayne has been arrested after being found in possession of steroid and a hypodermic needle. While being a minor the juvenile may not be imprisoned, the issue here is that there are so many people who area using steroids and the numbers are increasing to such an extent that kids are using steroids. The police would not reveal he age of the juvenile caught with steroids in this case and again, this is not the issue, there is the issue of society pressuring kids to look a certain way, there is also the issue of ease of availability, with many kids being aware that to get steroids all they need is to get online or get into some illegal gangs that supply steroids. The fact that the child was caught with a hypodermic needle brings the fore issues of transmission of diseases like HIV and hepatitis from users who want to take a shot. Another   issue is the fact that without the correct physical use the needles it could lead to the death of the users.

Kids want to perform well in sports; they want to emulate some of their favorite athletes. With the pressure to bag those sports scholarships that are being offered by institution of higher learning, children want to perform better than ever before. They have an attitude of winning whatever the cost and to make it worse they belong to an age group that cares the least about their health in the future. They are the ones who are most likely to overdose on steroids in the effort to look a certain way. Not only are steroids used by athletes, they are also used by regular children who are obsessed with certain body images and will do anything to get them. Sports models are known to use steroids and they are not being a good example to kids who want to look glamorous like them. The society; their parents and teachers are not doing anything to help them develop better self images, which do not mean that they have to use steroids to get there.

None of these children are aware of the side effects of steroids and given the fact that they are the ones most likely to overdose, they are not aware of the side effects that will lead them to prematurely bald or lose their muscles the moment they stop using steroids. Even if they are aware of the side effects, none of them cares enough and some of them think of the side effects as too overrated. It is important to educate children on the importance of honesty, of winning without having to cheat and getting what is rightly due to them without the need for steroids.
